Food Intolerances in Children

Food Intolerances in Children

Food intolerances or food sensitivities are much less dramatic than true food allergies and so often harder to identify. These are commonly caused by wheat or dairy but again can be caused by any foods. Food intolerances build up over time and can come and go with age. They are usually created by foods eaten repeatedly and build up over time. Children often crave the exact food that is causing them the most problems.

We need to also be aware that many of the chemicals found in our foods also create reactions known as Food Additive Reactions. These can be to artificial colours, flavours or preservatives but also to naturally occurring chemicals such as Salicylates or Sulphur. These build up in the system until they cause a reaction.
