Angela Maree Smith is a highly regarded Naturopath and Director of Melbourne Natural Medicine Clinic. With over 18 years of practice, Angela is passionate about investigating and resolving the root causes of chronic health conditions — fusing biomedical science and functional pathology testing with nature’s herbs, nutrients, diet, and lifestyle to restore lasting health and wellbeing.
Angela specialises in complex and challenging cases, with particular expertise in hormonal health, gut disorders, skin conditions, fertility, autoimmune disease, and thyroid health.
Hormonal Health Angela has extensive experience treating the full spectrum of women’s hormonal conditions, including PCOS, endometriosis, adenomyosis, perimenopause, and menopause. She understands how deeply these conditions can affect daily life — from painful and irregular cycles to mood changes, fatigue, weight fluctuations, and hormonal acne and breakouts. Angela takes a thorough, investigative approach, using advanced hormone testing to uncover the underlying imbalances driving each condition, and crafting individualised treatment plans to regulate cycles, reduce inflammation, support hormonal transition, and restore skin health from the inside out.
Gut Health Angela is highly experienced in diagnosing and treating complex gut conditions, including SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth), parasitic infections, IBS, candida overgrowth, food sensitivities, and inflammatory bowel conditions. She knows that symptoms like persistent bloating, constipation, abdominal pain, and irregular bowel habits are rarely just “digestive” — they often reflect deeper imbalances in the microbiome, immune system, and beyond. Using comprehensive functional testing such as SIBO breath testing and GI-MAP microbiome mapping, Angela identifies the true drivers of gut dysfunction and creates targeted, evidence-based protocols to heal the gut, restore balance, and improve overall wellbeing.
She has a special interest in Nutrigenomics — DNA analysis to uncover each patient’s unique genetic profile and tailor treatments that work with, not against, their biology.
A firm believer in balance, Angela uses food as medicine in both her practice and her personal life, guiding clients on how to eat and live well without sacrificing the joy that comes with it. She is a finalist for the Australian Traditional Medicine Society’s Practitioner of the Year 2021 and a regular speaker at industry events, driven by a genuine love of sharing knowledge and advancing the field.
