What Is TMJ?

TMJ refers to issues with the temporomandibular joint, which connects your jaw to your skull. Dysfunction in this joint can lead to pain, clicking, tightness or difficulty opening and closing your mouth. TMJ symptoms can be localised to the jaw, or may radiate to the face, ears, neck or shoulders. For some, it’s a mild annoyance. For others, it can cause daily pain, headaches, sleep disruption or tension that impacts eating, speaking and overall quality of life.

At MNMC, we take a whole-body view of TMJ, understanding that jaw tension often stems from more than just the joint itself. Stress, posture, inflammation, muscle imbalances and nervous system patterns can all play a part, and addressing the full picture is key to lasting relief.
